Welcome from our Chair of the Trust

Dear Parents, Carers and Students

Welcome from the Governors of Chase High.

The local governing body at Chase High works in partnership with the Brentwood Academies Trust. I am delighted and proud to be the Chair of both the governing body of Chase High as well as the Brentwood Academies Trust.

The governing body is very proud of our school and the improvements that have been made. These have been recognised by OFSTED and we are making progress. Chase High is a school the whole of our community can be proud of. We provide excellent opportunities for students, please look through this website to see the types of opportunity on offer.

The Headteacher and all the staff and governors at Chase High are committed to ensuring the best possible experience and outcomes are on offer for you if you choose to come to Chase. Come and have a look and I am sure you will be impressed.

Yours faithfully

Anthony McGarel - Chair of Governors

  • Governing Body

The role of the Governing Body is to maintain high standards by setting targets for school improvement, assist in the development of strategy, and help sustain the school's good standing in the local community. We have a range of powers and responsibilities which we are legally required to carry out.

As part of our responsibility for ensuring that Chase High is a safe, secure environment for its students and staff, the governors take an active interest in all areas of school life. By working closely with the Headteacher and the senior leadership team, and through listening to the views of staff, students, parents and carers we strive to make decisions that result in the best possible education for all of our students.

Governors are appointed from within the school and the local community so they have knowledge of the school and the population it serves. Membership consists of the Headteacher, Parent Governors, Staff Governors, and Community Governors.

The Governing Body meets 7 times a year, and a full list of the current members appears below. All governors are required to undergo a DBS check on appointment and are provided with training on induction and throughout their term of office to ensure a full understanding of the role and responsibilities.

Each governor agrees to abide by our Code of Conduct and is accountable for their actions under:

    • Companies Act 2006 and other related legislation
    • Funding Agreement (CHS)
    • Chase High School Governance Structure
    • Register of Business Interests
    • The Seven Principles of Public Life
    • Charity Law

If you wish to contact the Governing Body you may do so by contacting the school or by email to [email protected]

Start of Autumn Term 2020
Our first priority when students return is to help them feel safe in the school environment and re-establish strong routines in terms of learning and expectations. The government has provided guidelines recently that we will take on board to ensure that there is a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum for the whole school community. We will ensure that gaps in learning are addressed over the course of the academic year and that a gradual acceleration of learning will mean no pupil is disadvantaged. Our plans at the moment include a staggered start to the term to allow for a smooth integration to the school timetable as well as establish new routines in a measured approach. Please see our Letters to Parents for more information regarding the staggered start to the new term.
