Welcome from our Chair of Governors
Dear Parents, Carers and Students
Welcome from the Governors of Chase High School.
As Chair of the local governing body of Chase High I am delighted and proud to play an important part in the progress that Chase High is making. Working in partnership with Discovery Educational Trust, the Head and whole team at Chase High, we are building on the improvements recognised by OFSTED to ensure the best possible experience and outcomes for all our students.
We continue to add to our academic and sports facilities making Chase High a “go to” choice with excellent opportunities, building on the potential of all students. I would encourage you, after taking a look at our website, to come and see for yourself and take the opportunity to meet with some of our staff and students.
Finally, as we meet the challenges of the new school year, can I assure you the Head and the staff of Chase High have been working hard to ensure the safety and wellbeing of everyone.
Roger Juniper - Chair of Governors
The role of the Governing Body is to maintain high standards by setting targets for school improvement, assist in the development of strategy, and help sustain the school's good standing in the local community. We have a range of powers and responsibilities which we are legally required to carry out.
As part of our responsibility for ensuring that Chase High is a safe, secure environment for its students and staff, the governors take an active interest in all areas of school life. By working closely with the Headteacher and the senior leadership team, and through listening to the views of staff, students, parents and carers we strive to make decisions that result in the best possible education for all of our students.
Governors are appointed from within the school and the local community so they have knowledge of the school and the population it serves. Membership consists of the Headteacher, Parent Governors, Staff Governors, and Community Governors.
The Governing Body meets 7 times a year, and a full list of the current members appears below. All governors are required to undergo a DBS check on appointment and are provided with training on induction and throughout their term of office to ensure a full understanding of the role and responsibilities.
Each governor agrees to abide by our Code of Conduct and is accountable for their actions under:
- Companies Act 2006 and other related legislation
- Funding Agreement (CHS)
- Chase High School Governance Structure
- Register of Business Interests
- The Seven Principles of Public Life
- Charity Law
